1. Susan Park- Susan Park is one of the hidden gems of the St. Louis County park system. Along with normal park amenities (playground, covered picnic shelter, walking paths) the park also sports a working farm. Families can get up close to horses, cows, pigs, chickens and more. 2. Frisco Train Store- Tucked behind some train tracks in Valley Park, the Frisco Train Store is more than just a toy shop. If you’re raising children, or adults, that love trains this is the place for you. The shop boasts a large playroom filled with wooden and metal train tables. 3. Grant’s Farm- If you’ve worn out the walking paths at the St. Louis Zoo it might be time to try Grant’s Farm. Grant’s Farm features a tram ride of the property with excellent views of the animals in a cage-free setting. You can catch an elephant show, ride the carousel, and even feed some adorable goats a bottle of milk. 4. St. Louis Art Museum- You might be aware that the St. Louis Art Museum, like the other attractions located in St. Louis’s Forest Park, offers free admission. However, you might not think of the art museum as a place to take young families. Did you know that the Art Museum started a program called Family Sundays? 5. The City Garden- The City garden is located in downtown St. Louis and is often referred to as an “urban oasis.” The beautiful green space is filled with sculptures and intricate landscaping to wonder at. Take a guided tour or explore at your own pace. The City Garden also boasts several water features that are open during the summer months.
