St. Louis Windows: While Missouri is used to dealing with all kinds of unpredictable weather, one thing few of us
have experienced before is wildfire smoke. Following the June wildfires in Canada, that has
quickly changed. All of a sudden, we’ve found ourselves trying to find the best way to keep that
smoke out of the house. If you’ve been trying to block out the haze this summer, here are some
tips to keep it on the outside of your windows.

Keep Your Windows Closed
Okay, this one’s obvious. Plus, with the excessive heat, you likely are keeping them closed
anyway. Regardless, check to make sure all of your windows are closed and locked, and make
sure you’re closing the front door as well as the storm door when you enter and leave the
house.

Invest in an Air Purifier
If you or your family members struggle with ailments like asthma, an air purifier is going to go a
long way! Make sure to get one with a HEPA filter and run it on the highest setting.
Use Your Air Conditioner to Cycle Fresh Air

If you have a forced or central cooling system, make sure you keep it on so it can filter out any
harmful particles. If you have an HVAC system, keep it on the recirculate mode while the air
quality is poor.

Let in Fresh Air Once the Smoke is Gone
Once we’re back in the clear, take some time to open up the windows and let that fresh air flow!
Keep your doors and windows open for a period of time once the Air Quality Index goes below
50.

Can New Windows Help?

to make sure the elements are not getting through.
